Andrea Modica (born 1960) is an American photographer and professor of photography at Drexel University. Modica is well-known for her portrait photography and platinum printing. This was achieved using a large format 8″x10 inch camera.

Biography
Modica was born in Brooklyn, New York. In 1982, she earned her BFA degree in Visual Arts and Art History at State University of New York College, Purchase, NY. She also earned her MFA (Photography) from Yale University, in 1985. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is in many collections, such as The Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY, the National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C., and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Modica has received numerous grants including a Guggenheim Arts Fellowship in 1994 and a Fulbright-Hays Research Grant in 1990. Modica’s articles have appeared in Newsweek and Harper’s. She is also the author of numerous monographs including “Treadwell”, (Chronicle Books), and “Barbara”, (Nazraeli Press 2002). Modica taught photography at the State University of New York – Oneonta for thirteen years, and has also taught at Princeton University, Parsons School of Design, the State University of New York College at Purchase, and Colorado College. She is currently a professor of photography at Drexel University.
