A photo album is a folder in which photographs are stored for display. It consists of several sheets on which the photograph is pasted or inserted.
The design has varied through the times. In the older models it was cardboard or hard paper sheets with triangular supports in which the corners of the photographs were inserted. It was traditional to have a sheet of silk paper between the sheets to separate and protect the photographs.
Currently, the following variations of the photo album can be found:
- Blank sheets: The photographs must be attached to the pages with glue. Its advantages lie in the possibility of writing memories and other reviews in the blank spaces.
- Adhesive sheets: The sheets consist of adhesive plastic sheets that are easily peeled off to insert the photos. The brightness of the plastic gives this presentation an aesthetic appearance.
- Compartments: The photographs are inserted into transparent bags or compartments slightly larger than the photos. There may also be compartments for inserting notes or comments on paper.
