Madonna, whose full name is Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone, born August 16, 1958 in Bay City, Michigan, is an American singer, actress, dancer, director and businesswoman.
She spent her early years in Bay City and in 1977 moved to New York City to pursue a career in contemporary dance. After participating in two musical groups, Breakfast Club and Emmy, she signed with Sire Records (a subsidiary of Warner Bros.) in 1982 and released her debut album Madonna the following year.
